A Year in Review

Another great year at the downtown Toronto school!

Here is a summary of some of the things that happened this year:

  • Our student base has grown to over 225 students
  • Our instructor team grew to over 20 instructors
  • We created a new Women’s Self Defence program (click here for more info)
  • We performed at the University Settlement’s Chinese New Year event
  • We reached maximum capacity for our March Break Kung Fu Camp for kids
  • We conducted a pre-show workshop and performance for the Shaolin Warriors show at Sony Centre
  • We established the first formal grading exams for traditional Shaolin in Canada in May and held a second set of exams in October
  • Added sunrise qigong classes in May (click here for more info)
  • Added new daytime programs for qigong and kung fu (click here for more info)
  • We performed at Chinatown Festival in the summer (click here for summary video)
  • We reached maximum capacity for the Shaolin Retreat camping event in the summer
  • We reached maximum capacity for our Summer Kung Fu Camp for kids for both weeks
  • We celebrated STQI’s 10th Anniversary with the other STQI schools in October
  • Created new Shaolin uniforms for performances
  • We had our biggest year-end party ever with over 140 people and students in attendance (click here for summary video)


What are we expecting for 2018?

  • More growth
  • More classes
  • Programs to help the poor, disabled, and elderly (more information to come soon!)
  • Competing in the Zhengzhou China International Shaolin Wushu Festival!
  • And of course more!
